As usually, London offers its tourists lots events to participate in, or just to look at. One of them is the Great River Race, which takes place September 8th. Almost 300 vessels will compete to win the title of a Boat Champion. There are not only modern boats, but many other varied crafts taking part in the race, from skiffs and Hawaiian war canoes to Viking boats and whalers. Indeed the event is something to see! The race starts from the Richmong bridge (below Ham House) and moves a little less than a mile to Island Gardens. Then boats will pass along the Thames river through the centre of London and end their voyage opposite famous Cutty Sark at Greenwich. Participation is chargeable.
