Almost a year ago, Londoners could observe an unusual scene on river Thames as there was a bottlenose whale passing in its waters by the Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. However, this was really a tragic story as the deepwater animal that was a long way off course died of dehydration, cardiovascular failure and muscle damage despite all the attempts to save it. However, is could be said that her death was not in vain as a year later her skeleton can be observed at the Guardian Newsroom, Farringdon Road. The task to prepare the skeleton for this exhibition was not of the easiest as the process of defleshing is rather a complicated one. Now you can see 39 vertebrae, three ribs and skull that form a 16-foot skeleton that belonged to the 7-year old female whale. The skeleton is displayed in a specially made case created by the company that created the tank for the Damien Hirst's pickled shark.
