The tradition to celebrate New Year with Strauss family concerts is widely spread over many European cities, and London is not the exception. That is why on December 31 you can attend the Viennese New Year's Eve Gala at the city’s Barbican centre, which has been the host for this annual event for 25 years now. Enjoy all the beauty and romance of the music written in the 19th century – this is probably the best way to feel the festive atmosphere. At the concert, you will hear the most loved masterpieces by the Strauss family, as well as their contemporaries. Among the pieces performed there are: Jolly Robbers Overture, Annen Polka, Plappermaulchen Polka, Gold and Silver Waltz, Asalt Gallop, Ohne Sorgen Polka, Egyptian March, Blue Danube Waltz
and some others. The concert is performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and directed from the violin in the traditional Viennese manner by John Georgiadis.
