It became known lately that Covent Garden’s Theatre Museum will soon close because of money problems. Even though museum’s controllers - the Victoria & Albert museum, and the Royal Opera House made several attempts to find partners to finance the museum, these attempts appeared to be in vain. Instead, the museum got a great amount of moral support, but still, did not get any money in most of the times. Moreover, over the last few months it became clear that there is much greater sum of money needed to freshen up the building than it was previously thought. Presently, it is planned that the museum will be closed in January, unless no other ways are found to get the money - to save it, it is a minimum of UKP 5 million needed. At the moment, the Victoria & Albert museum is getting ready to bring contents of the Theatre museum to its own South Kensington base.
