One of the most important events that will take place in London pretty soon is the River Thames Festival, which will bring joy to Londoners on September 16 and 17. The Festival was first organized in 1997 and during the previous years attracted about 500,000 people. This year, it is said to be a vivid event with a comprehensive programme that will include various types of activities and spectacles. The festival programme includes: artists’ performances from 12 noon till 10 pm; dancing, organized at several ballrooms (Jive by The Royal Festival Hall, Tango by Tate Modern, Beach Party on the Thames foreshore, and a western Hoedown by Borough Market); a Night Carnival that will present a masquerade, dance and music performances and fantastic costume shows; The Great River Race on Thames on Saturday and the Barge Race on Sunday 17 by City Hall; and an excellent firework that will be the final action of the weekend. During the weekend, the Blue Ribbon Village will host various environmental organizations, which will give a chance to everyone to make their contribution to the well-being of this famous river.
