On Sunday, July 30 London will follow the American tradition of duck racing and will organize a Great London Duck Race on the Thames River in order to raise money for Nightingale House, a care home for elderly. This will probably be one of the biggest charity events this summer, as organizers hope that about 30,000 plastic squeaky ducks will take part in it. The ducks will be launched from a barge crane in Battersea Park and will lead their way along the channel to the Albert Bridge. The first ducks that will cross the bridge will win the price. This will not only be a charity event, but also the first large rice of this kind in the UK. By the way, you can also take part in it by visiting the Race website and adopting a duck for £10.
