This February and March, a new Keep Britain Tidy campaign is running a drive to ask smokers to stamp out cigarette litter. This campaign directs towards the smokers who create almost half the rubbish on the capital's streets. Organizers of Keep Britain Tidy will be handing out 250,000 free cigarette pouches which allow people to store their butts in them instead of throwing them on the street. The stub-out packets are designed to store butts safely and come in a range of colours and patterns. The crackdown will punish on those smokers that choose to litter instead of using a bin or a stub-out pouch as a means of disposal with fines up to £75 being handed out.
