In February 2006, as Brazil prepares itself for Carnival, the Barbican Art Gallery in London begins a major three-month festival entitled “Tropicalia”. From 16 February to 21 May 2006 the festival will give the Londoners a chance to experience a wide range of the most thrilling and dynamic aspects of Brazilian arts and culture, as well as get a taste of some of the country’s countless tourist attractions. “Tropicália” grew from visual art and music to include architecture, theatre, fashion and film and its impact is still felt in Brazil today. The art exhibition is all-round exploration of its themes. It includes over 250 exhibits showcasing the range and breadth of the movement, including album covers, documentaries, advertising, fashion, books, posters, theatre sets and television footage.
