London’s celebration for Chinese New Year will take place in Chinatown, Leicester Square and Trafalgar Square on Sunday, January 29 2006. The event begins at 11am when the colourful Grand Parade of dragons, lions, drums, ribbon and fan dancers make their way down Charing Cross Road to Trafalgar Square. The center of London will undergo a transformation, with dragon and lion dances, performances of traditional and contemporary music and dance, including visiting Chinese artists, at Trafalgar square. There will be firecrackers, fireworks and arts and crafts in Leicester Square. In 2006 it is the Year Of The Dog and it is hoped the day will attract more than last year's 80,000-strong crowd.
