The first major visual art event of the year, London Art Fair, takes place until 22 January 2006. The Fair launches the art world’s year showcasing museum-quality Modern British art and Contemporary work at the Business Design Centre in the heart of Islington. London Art Fair is the UK’s largest and most established fair of its kind and it features 100 leading galleries selected each year after scrupulous vetting by a committee of key gallerists. From the last century the Fair assembles over 1,500 artists: Modern British masters such as William Scott, Ben Nicholson, LS Lowry, Patrick Heron, Terry Frost, Patrick Caulfield on a par with exceptional Contemporary work from Keith Coventry, John Hoyland, Michael Craig-Martin, Peter Blake, Langlands and Bell and Gillian Ayres – among others.
